Get Involved

There are a number of ways you can get involved at the Cape Wildlife Center, if you're so inclined:

  • Volunteer. Volunteers are a critical part of our team. On any given day, volunteers feed orphan wildlife, transport injured animals, prepare meals, work in the office, and build cages and create habitats for convalescent animals. Whether your skills include caring for animals, using hand tools, or typing, we can use those skills at the center.
  • Be an Extern. The center accepts about 20 veterinary and undergraduate students per year for externships in our Wildlife Care program. Overseen by the staff veterinarian and the staff wildlife rehabilitator/veterinary technician, externs are involved with the husbandry, rehabilitation, and medical care of each wildlife patient admitted.
  • Work in the Community. Participate in one of the center's several community outreach programs, which teach youngsters or adults about wildlife rehabilitation or how to live in harmony with our wild neighbors. Also you can work at home to keep Cape Cod natural and a friendly environment for wildlife.
  • Enhance Your Professional Expertise. If you are a wildlife professional, contact us to take part in one of our educational programs that focus on handling and working with wildlife.
  • Apply for a Job. Paid staff at the Cape Wildlife Center include several positions during our busiest season (April through October). All employment opportunities at The Fund for Animals and The Humane Society of the United States can be found here.
