The Rural Area Veterinary Services (RAVS) program provides free veterinary care to animals who live in remote areas around the globe.
These animals, who may or may not have people who care for them, do not have easy access to veterinarians, even for routine sterilizations and vaccinations. The RAVS teams have aided for more than 20,000 animals a year, providing essential veterinary services as well as education for the community on disease prevention and humane animal care.
Veterinary students join experienced veterinarians to volunteer their time and skills complimentary to the communities. Often the students and veterinarians receive on-site training not provided in veterinary schools or seen regularly in private practice. In the past year, RAVS has provided approximately $1.5 million worth of veterinary services.
