RAY EUBANKS @2008 Four orphaned skunks survive the summer heat after being taken to The Fund for Animals Wildlife Center. |
On one of the hottest days of the summer, a tiny skunk was spotted in a driveway by a caring neighbor of The Fund for Animals Wildlife Center. The little body looked lifeless, but when the neighbor approached, the skunk raised his head and let out a pitiful cry.
With temperatures over 100 degrees, humans and animals – especially the young ones – can really suffer. This baby skunk was as cold as ice when found, and he was scooped up and rushed to the center. Staff began life-saving measures immediately, and by the next morning it was clear the little orphan was going to make it.
Two days later, the lucky skunk was joined at the center by a litter of three more orphaned skunks. They all bonded and will be released to the wild together.
